What services do we provide?

We provide Breastfeeding Counseling, Postpartum Doula and Birth Doula services in NY and NJ in the comfort of your own home, in hospitals, in birth centers and/or via phone, Zoom and/or FaceTime.

What does a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor do?

A CBC provides support and evidence-based information on breastfeeding, lactation, managing engorgement, learning your baby’s hunger cues, assists with latching the baby on the breast, educates and teaches the mother and her family about pumping, proper bottle feeding (paced feeding), cup feeding and syringe feeding, performs weighted feedings, educates and teaches the mother and her family about weaning, re-lactation and drying up, creates plans for back-to-work planning & pumping and can refer clients to breastfeeding groups and other support systems.

What does a Postpartum Doula do?

A Postpartum Doula assists with newborn care, such as diapering, bathing, feeding and comforting, provides non-medical support and companionship, offers evidence-based information on newborn feeding, emotional and physical recovery from childbirth and other issues related to the postpartum period; can attend pediatrician appointments with the clients, if needed, assists with additional siblings, if needed and can refer clients to local resources, support groups and other support systems.

What does a Labor/Birth Doula do?

A Labor/Birth Doula  is someone who provides education, companionship, and non- judgmental physical, emotional and informational support to the birth-parent and their family during the pre-natal and postpartum periods. Additionally, the birth doula accompanies the birthing person in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. The Birth Doula can provide reassurance and perspective to the birthing person and their partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, soothing touch, positioning and other techniques for comfort. By dedicating themselves to the family, birth doulas validate and enhance the parents’ intuitive ability to nurture and encourage them to develop and implement their own unique birthing plan.

Owner and Founder of Latched by Birth, LLC

Kristi DiMasi is a VBAC Mama of two daughters. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. John's University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies and Criminal Justice. She worked as a Paralegal for a total of 5 years, first for a private law firm and then for NY State. She became interested in helping others with birthwork after she gave birth to her oldest daughter in 2018 and realized the impact that education and support can have on your birth, lactation and postpartum experiences. In 2019, while she was pregnant with her second daughter, she attended classes at Birth Day Presence in Brooklyn, NY and received her Certified Breastfeeding Counselor and Postpartum Doula certificates. She then opened Latched by Birth, LLC shortly after. She has worked as a CBC and Postpartum Doula since then. In October 2022, she attended Birth Doula classes and became a Birth Doula. In August 2023, she attended a Spinning Babies® workshop and learned how to support mothers in labor using Spinning Babies® techniques.

As a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor Kristi creates each breastfeeding and/or pumping plan by tailoring it to each client's needs, wants and goals. As a Postpartum Doula she is dedicated to educating and guiding her clients through the newborn stage while helping them care for their baby(s), themselves and their families during the postpartum period. As a Labor/Birth Doula Kristi is passionate about educating, supporting and comforting her clients while helping them advocate for themselves before their baby arrives until their labor and delivery.
